Storylight writes a new bedtime story for your child every night, and a spare screen in their room becomes a lamp that shows when it's time for the story, time to sleep and time to get up.

The lamp

How do I set up the lamp?

On the spare tablet or old phone, either install Storylight and choose This device is the lamp, or open storyflame.app/lamp in the web browser. The lamp shows a six-character code of letters and numbers. In the app on your phone, tap Connect the lamp, or Connect under Settings, and enter the code.

Keep the lamp plugged in, always. Turn on Do Not Disturb so nothing wakes your child, and Guided Access so the lamp stays on Storylight.

I only have one device

Choose Just this one device. At bedtime your phone becomes the lamp. To get back to the grown-up view, hold a corner of the screen for 3 seconds and enter the grown-ups code you find under Settings.

What do the colours mean?

Orange: tonight's story is ready. Your child presses the lamp to listen.
Blue: the sea sound plays. Time to sleep.
White: it's okay to get up.

You set the times under Settings, where you can also make the lamp dimmer at night, change the volume or skip tonight's story.

The lamp lost its connection

Check that the lamp is on Wi-Fi and plugged in, then reload the page in its browser. If it still says it lost its connection, write to us.

Your account

Can I use Storylight on another phone?

Yes. On the other phone, choose I already have an account and enter your email address. We send you a code that works for one hour. There's no password to remember.

Plans, cancelling and refunds

The first 30 minutes of stories are free, with no card. Plans are bought and managed through Apple. To cancel, open your subscriptions on your iPhone, or go to Settings, tap your name and then Subscriptions. For a refund, use Report a Problem at Apple.

Your data

How do I turn off statistics?

Statistics are off until you turn them on. To turn them off again, go to Settings and switch off Share anonymous usage statistics.

How do I delete everything?

Go to Settings and tap Delete account and all data. This deletes your child's world, every story and the lamp's connection, on our servers and on your phone. Deleting the app alone does not delete your account.
